TeAM

Teacher Administration Manager

Overview

TeAM is a single package that integrates many of the administrative functions performed by teachers.  Developed by teachers for teachers, TeAM streamlines the multitude of tasks required in a busy, modern school and provides effective communication between teachers, pupils and parents.

Using a laptop or classroom computer, teachers connect to an SQL TeAM database on a school based server.  TeAM can hold a huge amount of information including pupil information and timetables copied nightly from SIMS or CMIS.

AS many tasks relate to classes that teachers teach, functions are accessed via the teacher's timetable view.

TeAM is a modular package allowing schools to buy into elements that best fit their needs and budget and is available on free trial.

Registration

TeAM facilitates registration for every period in the day including any twilight or extracurricular activities. Class lists are constructed from timetable information copied nightly from SIMS or CMIS.

Registration information can be viewed by parents for their own children using the TeAM web site where they can also submit absence notes.

The class register displays attendance information for previous periods in the day and links to the Behavior for Learning Module. The register also provides an attendance summary for the class.

For no-hands class questioning, the register includes a facility to select student names at random.

For Local Authority reporting purposes, registration data is copied to SIMS or CMIS in real time.

Behavior for Learning

TeAM can be configured to fit with most BFL systems currently in use. The system not only logs consequences but can also log the warnings. Used in this way, TeAM can produce valuable fine-grained data to help pin-point problems and reveal patterns in poor behavior.

Warnings and consequences are entered simply by selecting the student and clicking on the misdemeanor.

Detention letters and text messages are generated automatically for students receiving consequences.

Parents can view their child's behavior history using the TeAM website which students can also view.

School reports

TeAM provides comprehensive report writing facilities that can be customised to fit with a school's existing style of reports. Teachers can write and review their reports either in school or at home using the internet.

A typical report consists of check boxes for generic and subject specific statements, a freetext 'Target for improvement' and a freetext optional 'Teacher comment'. The report can also be configured for the input of targets, levels, and attitude to learning grades.

Teacher comments can be written directly into the report, compiled from a statement bank or a mixture of both approaches. A comment bank editor enables teachers and subject leaders to maintain the comment bank and apply filters to the comment bank statements for ease of use. The comment bank editor automatically handles gender specific words and pupil names.

Year Leaders and the Leadership Team can review all reports and add their own comments to them.

Housepoints

Housepoints can be allocated to individuals or groups of students using a range of categories. An optional citation can be attached to the housepoints which appears on printed certificates and on the TeAM website for parents and pupils to view.

Each category has a max tariff to ensure consistency of application.

Homework and class log

The class log helps teachers keep track of their work with a class. This is especially useful for classes that share teachers. An entry made for a class by one teacher can be viewed by another teacher of the same class.

The homework log works in the same way but with the additional feature that it can also be viewed by parents and students via the TeAM website.

Worksheets

TeAM is fully integrated with iWorksheets to provide a very convenient and labour saving means of setting, viewing and marking homework.

Activating an iWorksheet for a class to complete automatically puts an entry into the homework log.

Each page has an optional pre-amble and image. Any number of pages can be included in the worksheet. Currently there are three types of worksheet available.

  • Free response
  • Cloze procedure
  • Multiple choice

To mark the free response type requires reading each student's answer but this is a fairly quick process because each response is presented in a single mouse click. An optional teacher comment can be attached to each answer. The cloze procedure and multiple choice types of iWorksheet are self marking.

When students submit their work, they cannot see it again until the teacher has marked and returned it. Once work is returned, the correct or model answer can be viewed by students alongside their own work.

A worksheet written by one teacher can be deployed by another in the same department or copied and modified before deployment.

Room booking

TeAM can be configured to make any room bookable for any period (providing the room is not timetabled for that period). Teachers book rooms by selecting the appropriate class and timetable period. Confirmed bookings appear on the teachers timetable. The facility is especially useful for specialist rooms such as IT suites.

Administrators can block rooms from being booked (for special events, maintenance etc) and the record of room booking is a valuable source of information for ananlysing room usage.

Messaging

TeAM provides a range of messaging options to keep teachers in touch with colleagues, students and teachers.

Using TeAM email, teachers can write messages to individual colleagues, groups of team users in school and parents of a class. These messages pop up whenever the registration or BFL forms are opened. (This ensures that messages are delivered at the start of the next lesson.) Messages can also be sent to individual students or groups of students. These messages pop up whenever a register is opened with their name on it. Messages sent to parents or pupils also appear on the TeAM messageboard which appears on the TeAM website after login. This includes messages delivered to students in lessons that have been deleted after delivery.

TeAM texting enables teachers and administrators to send text messages to parents. These messages are either sent to a registered mobile or the home telephone number. TeAM can be configured to automatically send a text messages for detention notification.

The TeAM website allows parents and sixth formers to manage their email address and mobile telephone numbers so that contact information can be kept up to date.
